oz. brown sugar

pt. cold water

tbsp. golden syrup

tbsp. butter

02. sifted self-raising
flour
2 tsps. baking soda
7 dsp. mixed spice
1/4 cup chopped walnuts
Boil together raisins, sugar, water, golden syrup, and butter.
Allow to cool, then fold in flour, soda, spire, and walnuts. Bake
in a greased and lined 8-inch cake tin in a moderate oven (350°
to 375°) for 1 hour.
